About us: Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) is the largest grassroots-funded field organization in the country.
Here’s the deal: even now, especially now, we have to be talking to voters.
One-on-one voter outreach is still THE most effective way to boost voter turnout. That simple fact hasn’t changed.
We are facing an election that will define the course of our country for years to come. With millions of people laid off, tens of thousands dead from the COVID-19 pandemic, and a government that lacks the necessary leadership to help its people, now is the time to act — in a safe, careful way.
That’s why starting as early as June, our turnout teams will begin canvassing, if and when it’s safe to do so. Our first program will launch on June 20 in Colorado.
Canvassing just can’t wait until October and, unfortunately, can’t be replaced by TV and Internet ads. Digital outreach will only take us so far. If we want to fight voter suppression, and meaningfully educate voters on subjects like mail ballots, we have to do so in person.
That’s where we at Progressive Turnout Project step in.
Since mid-2019, PTP has been planning the launch of its largest field program ever, and we have adjusted our plans accordingly to deal with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. By knocking on over 10 million doors this year, we hope to turn the tide in this year’s monumental election.
We’re taking no chances with public health, however, and taking every step to ensure the safety of voters and our staff. Here’s what that looks like:
Our incredible field representatives will be equipped with:
- Cloth masks
- Sealed voter kits
- 6-foot separation
In addition, they will be strictly following social distancing guidelines, not canvassing inside apartment buildings, and will minimize contact with other employees, picking up materials only as necessary.
Any conversation with our field reps will be completely voluntary, and if voters don’t feel comfortable talking to us, they can rest assured that we can reach them through our texting and phone banking efforts. We’re using texts and calls to reach people across the country and give them important updates on how to vote safely, especially during these trying times.
This year was already a huge challenge for voters, and the pandemic we all face has only made it worse.
That’s why we’re committed to making it to your doorstep, so you have all the information you need to vote.
Even if we have to do it 6 feet away from you. Because this year we’re leaving it All on the Field!
